Course overview
The Seerah Study is a 2-Part course with Part 1 covering Pre-Islam to Hijrah and Part 2 covering Hijrah to end of Prophethood, that provides a deep, structured, and methodical exploration of the life of the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, moving beyond a simple chronological narration.
Students will study the Seerah through a critical, thematic, and contextual lens, linking events to
their historical setting, juristic (fiqh) implications, and theological significance.
Rather than merely recounting events, the course emphasizes:
 Deriving lessons relevant to both historical contexts and modern-day challenges.
 Understanding the interplay between revelation and historical events.
 Comparing multiple narrations and reconciling differing reports.
 Appreciating the Prophet’s ﷺ leadership, strategic vision, and noble character in light
of Quranic guidance

One on One Instruction

This Seerah series is delivered in two parts, which means students will have an entire year of studying the life of Prophet Muhammed (saws). It will seek to provide an academic and engaging view of his life allowing for discussion and greater understanding on points of contention and agreement.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Ousmane Sawadogo is a spiritual leader and scholar of Islam. He has been serving as an Imam at the Central Illinois Mosque & Islamic Center (CIMIC) since 2016. He was born in Abidjan, the Ivory Coast (West Africa) and he is fluent in Arabic, English, French, Mooré, & Bambara. He memorized the Quran with Sheikh Abdur Razzāq Al Halabī, under whom he also studied the kutub as-sittah, the Muwaṭṭaʾ of Imam Malik, Tafsīr al-Qurtubī, and several other classical Islamic works in the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, Syria. Imam Ousmane commitment to learning led him to achieve the following credentials in Islamic and Arabic Studies. Ph.D. in Arabic Language (2022); Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (2015); Master of Arts in Arab Studies (2011); Ijāzah ʽĀliah in Fundamentals of Religion, Major in Hadith (2003); Certificate of Specialization in Hadith Studies (2002); Diploma of Islamic and Arabic Studies (1999); Ijāzah in Quran Memorization (1999):
