Course overview
This course provides guided reading in small group sessions for students who have successfully completed Tajweed levels 1 and 2.  The purpose of this course is to allow students a structured reading environment with a Tajweed instructor to continue refining their knowledge, implementation and understanding of the Tajweed rules.  Students will continue to read through the whole of Qur'aan seeking exact recitation and constant improvement with each additional semester.

Progressions in Qur'aanic Tajweed-2 or Course Equivalent (Testing Required)

Meet the instructor

Aneesah Dawan

Hajjah Aneesah Dawan serves as an Advisory Committee member and Assistant Director of ILI. A life-long student of Qur'aan, Aneesah studied under Imam Qasim Ahmed (ra) for many years.  She has both secular and religious training with a BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies, as well as a 2-year Arabic Language Certification from Abu Nour University in Damascus, Syria.

Rasheedah U. Muslem

Rasheedah Ummil-Khair Muslem has been with the Islamic Learning Institute for two years as a student and an assistant instructor. She holds both a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Psychology.

Nadiyah Sa'id-West

Hajjah Nadiyah Said-West is a graduate of Sister Clara Mohammed School where she began her early studies in Qur'anic Arabic. She is a student of Imam W. D. Mohammed and has studied Qur'anic Arabic with a multitude of scholars within this community. Daughter of Hajjah Valerie Good and the late Bro. Musheer Muhammad (RA), Nadiyah holds a BA in Psychology, a MS in Social Work and a BS in Nursing. Nadiyah continues to strengthen her understanding of Qur'aanic Arabic with her study of Tajweed with ILI and Advanced Qur'aanic Grammar with Imam Abdullah Rasheed.
