Course overview
This course offers an accelerated delivery of all Tajweed rules for Hafs style of recitation in one course.  It is structured for proficient readers of Qur'aan to refine and perfect their reading and recitation through the instruction of all major skills in Tajweed including Al-Makhaarej (Exit Points) of the Arabic letters, As-Sefaat (Characteristics) of the Arabic letters, rules of Lam, Ra, Meem sakenah, Noon sakenah, Madd (Elongation), Idghaam (Blending), Al-Waqf (Stopping), and various obscure rules and instances of particular pronunciation of words.  This course includes both lecture and a reading lab to ensure the fine corrections needed for each reader are applied effectively.
Prior study of Qur'aanic Arabic for full reading fluency. (Testing Required)

One on One Instruction

Tajweed is a precise discipline and no two readers are the same.  For this reason, this course includes daily group and bi-weekly one on one sessions to focus on the exact areas needed to improve your reading of Qur'aan.
Swiyya Haqq
Swiyya Haqq was a part of the Imam W.D. Mohammad delegation to Syria from 2000-2004. She also studied Arabic and Islamic studies in Yemen in 2005. Since studying abroad, Swiyya has concentrated her studies in the science of tajweed. Since gaining ijazas in Hafs recitation from Syria, she has studied the 10 ways of Quranic recitation, receiving ijaza in them as well. Swiyya also holds a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL.
Aneesah Dawan
Hajjah Aneesah Dawan serves as an Advisory SHURAA member and Assistant Director of the islamic learning institute. A life-long student of Qur'aan, Aneesah studied under Imam Qasim Ahmed (ra) for many years.  She has both secular and religious training with a BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies, as well as a 2-year Arabic Language Certification from Abu Nour University in Damascus, Syria.
